ABOUT US BRIEF HISTORY OF F.T.G.& D.L.W.T.A. The F.T.G.& D.L.W.T.A. was founded in August, 1956, and was formerly known as the Mountain District Ladies Wednesday Tennis Association which operated in the early 1950’s. As the association developed, it was decided to commence a Thursday ladies competition to run in conjunction with the existing Wednesday competition. This began in 1978 with 7 Sections and eventually grew to similar numbers as the Wednesday competition. ABOUT US We have 44 affiliated clubs located in the eastern suburbs, covering an area as broad as Warrandyte to Wantirna and Upper FTG to Yarra Glen. Our ladies doubles competition runs on both Wednesday and Thursday, providing the option of playing both days or one day per week. Starting time is 9.30am. on both days. We have two seasons each year: Season 1 – February to June which comprises 6 or 8 teams per section. Season 2 – July to November which comprises 6 or 8 teams per section.
